I used my final portfolio time to explore my relationship with the west and western 'cowboy' culture. I used imagery of classic western film from Hollywood in the 60's and 70's, as well as photographs from my own time out west in Wyoming. I explored themes of femininity and sexuality in western culture, and utilized images of live and pressed flowers against the classic black-and-white photography to highlight the constrast between the two forms. I specifically explored the question of what is a 'cowgirl', and what does it mean to me? How do I see myself fitting into that word, and how does that word fit into my life?
